I love fresh cantaloupe, especially on those hot summer days when my body is in need of a little extra hydration!
Try incorporating these guys into your dietary routine more often; they’ll provide your body with the following important nutrients:

Manganese
Vitamin B
…. Among others
Important phytochemicals include:
alpha-carotene
beta-carotene (cantaloupes contain the most of all melons)
beta-ionone
pectin
tocopherols
….among others
The nutrients and phytochemicals offered by the cantaloupe can help with the following:
lower cholesterol levels
lower blood pressure
protect against heart disease and cancer
boost the immune system
aid liver health
protect against macular degeneration
…and they also have anti-inflammatory properties
When purchasing cantaloupe choose ones with a thick and coarse surface that have a fruity aroma and a round shape. A good cantaloupe will not have a stem.
They are best stored at room temperature, after approximately 4 days store in the refrigerator (they will last approximately another 5 days). Cantaloupe that has been cut can be stored, covered in the refrigerator for approximately 3 days.
When you are ready to enjoy, wash it under cold water before cutting and remove the seeds and strings.
Cantaloupe can be enjoyed on its own, sliced atop warm or cold cereal, added to fresh plain yogurt or try this great fruit salad with cantaloupe
2-3 cups cantaloupe, cut into pieces about 1 inch square
2-3 cups honeydew, cut into pieces about 1 inch square
1 cup pineapple, cut into pieces about 1 inch square
